Quarter 4, Week 7:

Language Arts

Spelling will be normal next week with a test Friday. We will continue Little House on the Prairie too. For grammar and writing we will be working on paragraphs, letters, narration and diagramming. Students should be memorizing For Want of a Nail and it is due on Wednesday since it is so short.

Math

Yards, feet, inches and miles are the units to explore this week. There will be a quiz on Tuesday and then a cumulative test on Unit 6 Friday. To help with math groups this week sign up here:  

Science

This week, students will learn about the lunar cycle. They will be able to explain waxing vs. waning, and understand why there are moon phases. They will come home with a study guide on Friday. There will be a quiz next week.

History

We will learn about the Dutch settlers in New York this week! We will also learn about William Penn and Pennsylvania.

Quarter 4, Week 6:

Language Arts

We pick up spelling again this week. Since there is no school Monday, we will do half of our words on Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be a test Friday. We will continue Little House on the Prairie. For grammar, we will be working on contractions and there will be a little quiz on Friday.  We will pick up writing again too and spend time on grammar concepts.

Math

Science

This week, students will learn about the relationship between the earth, moon, and the sun. They will also be able to explain what causes days/nights, years and seasons.

History

We will learn about the Puritans and Roger Williams this week! We will also finish the New England colonies and start the Middle Colonies.

Quarter 4, Week 5:

This week, students will work in groups to present a skit to their classmates. Students should be studying for their Solar system assessment which is on Thursday.

History

We will learn about the Pilgrims coming to America! We will learn about and discuss the Mayflower Compact. We will finish the week learning about the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Quarter 4, Week 4:

AZ Merit Reading and Math are on Monday and Tuesday! Please prep your child with a good night sleep and a filling breakfast!

Language Arts

We will be taking the AZ Merit reading test this week. We will continue Little House on the Prairie and work on a craft project related to the text.  

Math

We take the AZ Merit math test this week. After that, we will begin the unit on measurements and unit conversions. To help with math groups this week (students will be designing a dream house using area), sign up here:  

Science

Students will continue working on their Solar System books, gathering facts about each of the eight planets, the sun, and the earth’s moon.

History

We will learn about the Georgia colony on Monday. Throughout the week we will study and review the colonies we have learned about so far. On Friday we will take a test.

A quick note about Fine art and French night:

Hello Archway Arete Family! Fine Arts and French Night is Wednesday, April 10^th  from 5:30 to 7:30. Please bring your friends and family for a night of celebrating our student’s achievements in Art and French! Art will be displayed on the walls by classrooms, French videos and performances will take place in the MPR, and there will be mini art lessons in the art room. Light refreshments will be served on the playground courtyard by our lovely PSO. Excited to see you there!
