Our first literature book is Pinocchio. Your child must have the book to participate in literature.  We are currently memorizing “The Bee” by Isaac Watts. Children should review it a bit daily at home. Recitations will be on Wednesday the 28th. Recitations are an individual effort so you may want to rehearse at home in front of a family audience.

Math:
We will continue to work on Addition and Subtraction skills with a focus on mental math strategies. There will be a quick Quiz on Monday to check for understanding after the lesson. Later in the week we will turn our focus toward estimation. This integrates rounding so please practice at home! Round is one of the more challenging concepts for children at this age. There will be a short quiz on Friday to check for understanding with estimation. This unit will introduce the students to the many ways the  rivers provide for us each day of our lives in very critical ways.

Thank you for all of the responses to my questionnaire this weekend. If you have not done so already, here is the questionnaire link once more: https://forms.gle/EUPTCRZsxRtVrphH6

Our classroom is a peanut free classroom! This means any special treats may not contain peanuts OR be prepared on shared equipment and must be pre-approved and store bought. If your child brings a snack with nuts they will need to eat it outside of the classroom during snack time. If you have any questions about our nut free classroom, please don't hesitate to reach out!

I am excited and eager for our first week of school! Please take a look at what we will be learning about this week:
