Quarter 1 Conferences:

Good morning, 3C families!

Conferences will begin October 21st through October 24th, 2019. Parents will meet with myself and Miss Lowe in the classroom to discuss their child’s progress in third grade over the course of the first quarter. Please arrive 10 minutes early. Enter through the west entrance of the Archway building. Conferences will last approximately 25 minutes; the final five minutes will allow for transitions and teacher breaks. Quarter 1, Week 9:

3rd Blog Blurbs
Language Arts: This week we have a normal schedule of spelling words and will take the test on Friday. We will also finish Pinocchio and celebrate the book on Friday.
Math: We will be learning how to multiply a multi-digit number by a one digit number. We will take a test on Friday. Don’t forget to practice multiplication flashcards at home regularly! Can you volunteer for math groups Wednesday morning? Sign up on the Sign Up Genius.
History: Students will be completing their Canada Unit Study Guide in class, using their Geography/History textbooks and notes, as well as working with classmates. The assessment will be towards the end of the week, depending on when their Study Guides are completed. Canada Unit - Province/Territory research projects are due on Monday and will begin their presentations on Monday.
Science: This week, students will review for our upcoming assessment. We will have a test on the Animal Classification unit on Friday, October 4th. Students should study their notes and study guide throughout the week in order to prepare.

Quarter 1, Week 8:

Language Arts: We will be doing a tough rule for Spelling this week regarding the “sh, ti, si, ci” sounds. There will be a test on Friday. We will be memorizing “The Eletelephony” by Laura Richards. Children should review daily at home. Recitations will be on Sept 25. There will be no new poem assigned this week. In grammar we will chat about similes, metaphors, and personification.

Math: This week we are excited to explore what makes an equation true and word problems using multiplication or division. We will take a test on Friday. History: We will study the Canadian provinces in depth this week. Students are also continuing to research their own chosen Provinces of Canada and collect important information that they will present to their classmates at the end of this month. 

Science: Students will be going on a scavenger hunt in the classroom to review and answer various questions about mammals. A study guide will be given this week and should be reviewed at home over the weekend. We will have a test on the Animal Classification unit on Friday, October 4th.
