Quarter 1, Week 3:

What to expect for this upcoming week: Language Arts: This week we will continue working on our Spalding rule pages. Wednesday we will learn 12 new words that will be tested on Friday.  For grammar we will continue to learn about the different parts of speech as a review. Our first literature book is Pinocchio. Your child must have the book to participate in literature.  We are currently memorizing “The Bee” by Isaac Watts. Children should review it a bit daily at home. Recitations will be on Wednesday the 28th.

Math: We will continue to work on Addition and Subtraction skills with a focus on mental math strategies. There will be a quick Quiz on Monday to check for understanding after the lesson. Later in the week we will turn our focus to word problems and bar models. If you can volunteer for Wednesday math groups this week, please sign up at this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d49afac2fa1fc1-math1

History: In Geography, the students will be locating the capitals of all 50 states, identifying natural and man made borders, recognizing similarities and differences in political and physical maps. In addition, they will also be locating Arizona on the United States map and naming the different landforms found on physical maps.

Science: This week we will be performing our skits to the class. Students will learn the differences and similarities between the vertebrates; mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians, and birds.
